The Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication is actively preparing for the first edition of the "Morocco Gaming Expo," which will take place from May 24th to May 26th, 2024, in Rabat. This groundbreaking initiative aims to position the Moroccan capital as a center of excellence in the gaming field, while fostering the country's economic and cultural development.
Morocco Gaming Expo 2024 represents the first gaming fair in Morocco. Its main objective is to promote the gaming industry in the country, with a particular emphasis on Rabat Gaming City. This ambitious project aims to create a cluster of companies, both national and foreign, to stimulate the creation of qualified jobs and foster the emergence of a dynamic cultural and social scene in Rabat. Rabat Gaming City also aspires to become one of the main hubs of the gaming sector in Africa and the MENA region.
A unique platform to meet major players in the industry globally
Morocco Gaming Expo 2024 offers a unique platform to meet major players in the industry globally, establish national and international partnerships, and participate in training sessions covering all aspects of the gaming industry. Access to the fair will be free upon prior registration. The event will unfold across three distinct areas.
The first, an exhibition space showcasing the Moroccan ecosystem, including Rabat Gaming City, local startups and incubators, universities and training organizations, as well as technology infrastructure providers.
The second, a space dedicated to conferences and training sessions led by national and international experts, covering all aspects of the gaming value chain.
Lastly, a space reserved for e-sports tournaments, team strategy games, and multiplayer battles.
A market leading the Cultural and Creative Industries
The global gaming market is experiencing exponential growth, positioning itself at the forefront of the Cultural and Creative Industries with an estimated value of USD 295 billion in 2022. This trend is expected to continue, with projections indicating a potential value of USD 321 billion by 2026. At the national level, the gaming industry represents an emerging sector offering numerous employment and investment opportunities for Morocco. The strategy of the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, launched in 2022, aims to stimulate the development of the sector through the establishment of technological infrastructure, strengthening of training, support for investors, and national and international promotion of the sector, notably through flagship events such as the "Morocco Gaming Expo."
The evolution of the gaming market in Africa also reflects significant growth in recent years. Indeed, the African continent is experiencing rapid expansion of the gaming industry, driven by the rise of information and communication technologies, increased internet access, and the democratization of smartphones. Many young Africans have become gaming enthusiasts, whether on PC, consoles, or smartphones, creating a dynamic and promising market. E-sports tournaments are multiplying across the continent, attracting a passionate audience and generating growing enthusiasm for this form of digital entertainment. In this context, the holding of the "Morocco Gaming Expo" is of particular importance as a major event contributing to strengthening the visibility and development of gaming in Africa, while fostering exchanges and partnership opportunities on a continental scale.
