LafargeHolcim Morocco recently launched an innovative initiative called "Connected Classrooms" to improve access to education and new technologies in Morocco. The goal is to provide online educational resources and interactive tools to schools and students. This initiative is part of the company's social responsibility actions, aiming to strengthen ties with local communities and support the education of young generations.
The "Connected Classrooms" program will span three years and benefit all schools near LafargeHolcim Morocco sites, a group already committed to education in Morocco. The main objective is to create an inclusive educational environment, thereby contributing to student retention and combating dropout rates.
Additionally, Morocco is embarking on an ambitious program to train 22,500 digital experts by 2027. This initiative, involving twelve universities, aims to create 144 new digital programs to meet the growing needs of the digital sector and information technologies.
Another notable development is the establishment of a digital laboratory by the Ministry of National Education, Preschool, and Sports. This laboratory, called Digital Lab, aims to improve the quality of learning and the performance of educational institutions by developing innovative digital solutions for teachers and students.
Modernize infrastructures, promote innovation and foster the growth of the digital economy
Digital transformation in Morocco is gaining momentum, driven by a national ambition for modernization at all levels. This governmental will is reflected in initiatives aimed at digitizing various sectors, including education, to leverage the benefits offered by information and communication technologies.
Currently, Morocco is undergoing a digital transition that positively impacts many aspects of society. This transition is characterized by an increasing adoption of digital tools in educational, administrative, and economic processes, thereby contributing to the improvement of efficiency, transparency, and accessibility of services. Moreover, digital transformation opens up new economic opportunities by fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and job creation in the information and communication technology sector.
In this respect, Morocco is asserting itself as a major regional player in the field of technology, with sustained investment in digital infrastructure and policies conducive to the emergence of a dynamic and competitive digital ecosystem. In short, digital transformation represents an essential lever for Morocco's socio-economic development, contributing to its modernization and competitiveness on the international stage.
The objective of Morocco's digital strategy is to stimulate economic growth and enhance the country's competitiveness. By leveraging information and communication technologies (ICTs), this strategy aims to modernize infrastructure, promote innovation, and foster the growth of the digital economy. By aligning its policies with these objectives, Morocco aims to significantly increase its contribution to gross domestic product (GDP) through the development of digital sectors, such as information technology, telecommunications, e-commerce, and online services. This digital transformation also aims to improve access to public services, strengthen social inclusion, and create employment opportunities in the digital sector, thereby contributing to sustainable economic growth and a more connected and competitive society.
Integrating information technology in schools
A pioneer in this regard, Rwanda implemented the "Connected Classrooms" program in 2016. This program has expanded, symbolizing the country's commitment to digital education. The program aims to provide equitable access to quality education through online resources and interactive tools. In partnership with local companies and organizations, Rwanda continues its vision of becoming a technology hub in Africa by investing in connectivity and integrating information technologies into schools across the country.
Through these initiatives, Rwanda strives to transform its educational system to prepare students for the challenges of the modern world and provide them with the skills needed to succeed in an increasingly digital society.
Meanwhile, Morocco is set to deploy 144 integrated digital programs in 12 universities across the country.
