Initiated in 2011 in Côte d'Ivoire, to provide rural populations with a triple solution of electricity supply, internet connectivity and educational content thanks to the Li-Fi light communication technology, the LIFI-LED start-up is now present in Liberia, Morocco, Burkina Faso, Ghana, and Madagascar.
The expertise is appreciated well beyond the continent: accompanied by the public agency Business France, the boss of LIFI-LED - the Ivorian Ange Frédérick BALMA - has installed since 2019 a branch at the Technopole de l'Arbois, in Aix en Provence, via its French subsidiary SINILUX, which deploys in France and internationally its broadband connectivity and clean energy solutions. The company is also active in the "smart cities" segment, through the implementation of autonomous solar street lamps, capable of providing a range of information thanks to integrated sensors.
No wonder that with such technological innovations, Ange Frédérick BALMA has been distinguished on several occasions: in addition to the award for the best Technology and the General Public awarded by the Africa Invest Forum (October 2018) and obtaining first place in the EDF Pulse Africa competition (November 2019), the entrepreneur won in July 2019 the prestigious Ivorian Excellence Award for the best digital innovation; the ultimate recognition of the motherland for its prodigal son.
