The announcement was on every Moroccan media. A Moroccan startup, Moldiag, a subsidiary of the MAScIR foundation, a research and development center, conceived and can produce on a large scale Covid-19 diagnostic kits. "After getting in May 2020, national and international approvals for its diagnostic kit, the major challenge for Moldiag, has been to launch its industrial production unit urgently, explains the company in a press release. In this logic, Moldiag accelerates its equipment supply, to offer a large scale production after being able to produce, last June 30, in a test, 10 000 Covid-19 diagnostic kits delivered to public authorities."
The registration product certificate delivered by the health ministry allows Moldiag to produce and sell the kit. The company can create one million tests per month. The Ministry of Health already ordered 100 000 diagnostic kits.
"This national innovation will provide to Moroccan laboratories, a diagnostic kit at a competitive price"
Discussions are still ongoing with local distributors regarding the availability of the kit on the market. "This national innovation will provide to Moroccan laboratories, a diagnostic kit at a competitive price. It will raise the country's screening capacity while the number of cases is going up again," highlights the MAScIR foundation.
Our center of medicine biotechnology focuses research for the last ten years around two axes: infectious diseases and cancer diagnostic kits in Morocco and Africa, and a platform's development dedicated to biosimilar medicines. Thanks to this experience, we can produce today a Covid-19 diagnostic kit if it is necessary for our country during these difficult times," explains Nawal CHRAÏBI, General Director of the foundation.
